Update on the mumbai storm

Under Storm,Storm at 2009-Nov-11, 10:15 I'd like to: Digg

ndtv says the storm may be heading to Gujrat. Chances are it'll affect north Mah + south Guj a bit and then vanish, but who really knows....

Besides the skies are still overcast here. It may just decide to visit us anyways.

Cyclone flattening mumbai

Interestingly, it doesnt seem to be affecting most transport and communication services. I guess that says 3 years may have fixed Mumbai's transport and communication problems - if you remember the Rainy Day in 2006 when everything was blocked/offline.

The globe here shows Mumbai CLEARLY covered in storm clouds.

It's not rained this well since last year's rains - and it isnt even the monsoon anymore.....

All going well

Butterfly pea.jpg

The butterfly pea I've been trying to grow has been a success. I've added in this picture here from a website 'flowers of india' - it's really quite illustrative. The taste of the pea it gives isnt anything to boast about; certainly rather bitter than sweet. But the flavour is clearly pea-ish.

I guess it would make a fair snack while giving your taste buds something to think about. The young peas are pea-ish without the bitterness, but as they get older the flavour becomes bitter to the point the pea taste cant be identified.

Btw, one plant/vine gives about 200 pods - or 217 on my last exact count. This is a factual figure, albeit hard to believe. I ate about 4-5 of the pods, so the actual number could be a bit off - but 200 is a good figure. Besides, being a Legume, it adds nitrogen in the soil - I found its a great companion plant for those nitrogen sucking low growing greens like spinach, etc.
